About Me: Core Beliefs

Statement of Faith: The Apostles Creed
I believe in God, the Father almighty,
creator of heaven and earth.
I believe in Jesus Christ, God's only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried;
he descended into hell.
On the third day he rose again;
he ascended into heaven,
he is seated at the right hand of the Father,
and he will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the holy catholic Church,
the communion of saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and the life everlasting. Amen.

Other Beliefs:
--I believe that there is intrinsic value to each and every human life regardless of race, gender, age, faith, lack of faith, sexual orientation, economic status, or intelligence level.
--I believe the highest call for all people is to "do no harm."
--I believe for Christians this is taken a step further, not only to do no harm but to love and serve all people in imitation of Jesus Christ.
--I believe that people of all faiths have important contributions to make to spirituality and society as a whole.
--I believe that people of no faith have important contributions to make to all of our lives and society as a whole.
--I believe that science helps reveal to us the inner workings of our world and our universe, created not in six days but evolving over millions and billions of years.
--I believe that science and religion are not mutually exclusive,
--I believe that God may take an active role in our lives and our world, but that human free will shall not be overwhelmed.
--I believe that only God can judge the body, heart, soul, and mind.
--I believe that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people were born as they are, also in the image of God.  I do not believe that these people choose their orientation.  I do not believe that they are living in "sin"or opposition to God.
--I believe that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people have the right to enter into a legal marriage contract and to receive the legal benefits of the contract with their partner of choice.
--I believe that gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people may enter into a religious covenant of marriage in a church that sanctions their union.
--I believe that churches who do not offer the sacrament of marriage to same sex unions have a right to that belief and should not be forced to offer the sacrament to same sex couples by government or anyone else.  However, this religious belief should not have any affect on the LEGAL STATUS of a same sex union in any city, county, or state in our country.
--I believe in non-violent solutions to conflict whenever possible.
